There are a number of possible causes for poor sound quality or lack of sounds being heard through your Stethoscope.

Please review the following :-

HeadSet Alignment.

This is one of the most common reasons for poor sound or no sound being heard by the user.

Hold your headset in front of you with the ear-tips pointing away from your body then insert into your ear canal. Adjust the headset by grasping the ear-tube until you have a comfortable fit. Wearing the headset with the ear-tips inserted the wrong way will result in poor sound quality.

EarTip Size.

EarTips come in a range of sizes and types to suit your needs. It is important to use the ear-tip size that best fits your ears.

Possible Obstructions.

Over time your stethoscope may accumulate dirt, earwax and debris which may impair the sound pathway. Routinely clean the ear-tips and stethoscope head.

The Seal.

Stethoscopes rely on an airtight seal in order to transmit body sounds from the patient to the users ears. Loose parts in the  chest-piece, loose tubing, or cracked tubing can prevent an airtight seal. Most of these parts can be replaced by ordering through Medshop Australia.

Opening the Bell on a Dual Head Stethoscope.

When using a dual head stethoscope, you need to open the bell or diaphragm by rotating the chest-piece. If the diaphragm is open, the bell will be closed, preventing sound from coming in through the bell, and vice versa.
